A Family Tradition...
Jim and Betty Groves began raising and breeding Clydesdales in 1955 after working with them for a gentlemen named Floyd Conger. Jim and Betty took on the name GlenCoe Clydesdales and were extremely successful with their breeding program as well as in the show ring. In 2004, Andy Behn, Jim & Betty's grandson, bought the farm. The Behn Bros., their parents John and Cathy Behn, as well as other Groves family members took over the family Clydesdale business. The boys started off with just a breeding program and after a couple of years got started in the hitching business with the help of a good and dear friend, Gene Schweiger.
The Behn Bros. have continued to build upon and improve our clydesdale breeding operation. Our herd Sire is Cedarlane Duncan. We usually have 6 to 8 brood mares which are also show hitch and halter mares, as well as young stock and several horses for sale.
Our home raised hitch mares had a breakout year in 2012 taking home awards for the National Champion Mare Team and National Champion Jr. Team. We also took third place at the National Show in the Mare Cart. Check out our Show page for pictures and results.
Visitors are always welcome on our farm. Come see the horses we have to offer for sale or just take a tour and visit!
